Kits

Comic kit

Panels, balloons, captions, SFX, speed lines and impact stars: the comic grammar, lettered by hand and kept to one shout per view at Studio.

15 pages, each with its live example, props and the press check.

Balloon
Speech, shout, thought, whisper and radio balloons: flat reading plates lettered in Shantell caps.
Caption
The narrator's box: square corners, an ink rule and a flat fill. Captions narrate; balloons speak.
Continued in
The comic's "to be continued" link to the next page, or back to the previous one.
Corner box
The comic cover's issue box for availability and status: one per page, top left.
Editor's note
A recap or a footnote with links, in comic grammar, lettered in Schibsted because it carries links.
Focus lines
Radial wedges that aim the eye and leave the centre clear; emanata say "look".
Impact star
Where things land: an impact flash behind the hit, sparkles for new things, dizzy stars on an orbit.
Key pop
The hit key's one small SFX: the first press per page view pops it at the key's top right.
Kirby krackle
Clustered ink blobs and rings inside a cloud plume: static energy for hero art and the 404.
Newsprint
The newsprint stock as art: pulp for the old comic, cool for an accent, with fibre, speck and a vignette.
Offset plates
The colour made of dots: four process screens at C 15°, M 75°, Y 0° and K 45°, in register or off.
Panel and panel grid
The comic page grid: paper gutters, framed panels, art panels with placed plates, slanted and broken frames.
Sound effects (SFX)
Comic sound-effect lettering on Anybody's width axis: POW wide, BOOM extended, ZAP condensed, KRAK compressed.
Speed lines
Tapered ink wedges trailing a move, behind the moving object, never under words.
Splash title
A splash page's title lettered on an arc with an extrusion, a burst and a kicker, over a real heading.
